1969 - Vellalar Educational Trust was established with mission to empower rural women
1970 - College commenced functioning with 3 sections of Pre-University class | Affiliated to the University of Madras | ‘Rukmani Ammal Hostel’ constructed within the campus
1971 - Upgraded as Degree College | Two degree courses were introduced
1975 - Awarded the “Tamil Nadu Government Rolling Cup” for producing highest pass percentage among colleges offering 3 degree courses and below.
1977 - Cooperative stores for staff and students registered and commenced its business from 10.03.1977
1978 - First Post Graduate Course introduced.
1980 - Introduction of Research Courses M.Phil. and Ph.D.
1982 - College affiliated to the newly formed Bharathiar University, Coimbatore | Semester system introduced
1983 - Self financed stream instituted.
1992 - 60 of our students presented ‘Dance of India’ at the National sports meet for women
1993 - MCA started under Self Financing wing with AICTE approval
1994 - Silver Jubilee Year.
1997 - Inauguration of ‘Kasthurba Gandhi Auditorium’ by His Excellency Thiru. K.R. Narayanan, Vice-President of India. The auditorium with a seating capacity of about 2500 is one of the largest and most modern in South India
1998 - Academic performance of Aided colleges in Tamil Nadu – Evaluation by the office of the Commissioner of Collegiate Education, Chennai | U.G. Courses 28th among 141 colleges assessed Rank secured by our college | P.G. Courses 17th among 117 colleges assessed
2000 - Secured 34 University Ranks and the college was adjudged the second best among colleges affiliated to Bharathiar University, Coimbatore
2001 - Secured 26 University Ranks in the April 2001 Examination. College Ranks 3rd among the colleges affiliated to Bharathiar University, Coimbatore
2002 - Accredited by National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) with 3 star status
2004 - History Museum established with the rare collection of Artefacts collected from Kodumanal, Mylambadi, Kulathupudur, Paruthiyur and Kovilpatti
2005 - Established Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC)
2007 - Conferred with the Status of Autonomy in 2007 (23.7.2007)
2008 - NAAC has re-accredited the institution (Cycle II) with ‘A’ Grade 3.31 Introduction of Choice Based Credit System (CBCS)
2011 - Alumni Association registered under Societies Act
2012 - Conferment of ‘College with Potential for Excellence’ status by UGC
2013 - ‘Ramanujan Mathlab and Research Centre’ established
2014 - Three (2 International and 1 National) Peer-reviewed Bi-annual Research Journals(Both Online and Print version) published | Launched ‘Central Research Laboratory’ (CRL)
